Spring Oak Panels (Part Deaux)

so I got a first coat of Varathane on the wood panels. It will not be ready to sand the first coat until tomorrow. I am SO loving the golden WOODGRAIN of this stain/clear combo. So… we wait. In the mean time, I did a lot of other work inside the bay area. I removed the rear seat, the after market carpet and rubber floor mat, and  began to clean out all the crevices with a wire brush. Once all the crusty 1/2 inch of dirt was loosened, I brought out the shop vac and began removing the debris and started getting down to the rusty bits. I got out the Eastwood rust encapsulation paint and applied generously to the rusty corners of the floor to test this stuff. The rust turns black and ends up being able to be painted over. I ended up doing the entire floor, and most of the ceiling in the bay area. The dark blackish areas are those that have been painted with this cover paint.

Tomorrow, off to Jack’s place to get the shifter torn apart and welded back together so I can get in and out of the gears properly. She’s had a hard time with 2nd and reverse. ugh!… Hopefully this will do the trick. Then, soon… the handbrake needs work.
