As you can see, the engine compartment lid that came with the bus was a bit worse for wear having been backed into something long ago. I was OK with it for the time being, but my friend Jack was wondering around the parts yard while I was negotiating a trade of my old [...] So, here is the door installed on the driver’s side. It cleaned up really nice… its soooo shiny! I am really really happy with the fit too. I added the mirror and tore off the rubber bumper the rest of the way. It was hanging there with 4 out of 5 rivits [...] All in one day, a lot has changed. A guy in Thousand Oaks was parting out a 1978 Westy burn-victim. Bad fuel lines caused an engine fire that took it out. With a blow torch and a sawzall they began chopping it all up for scrap. Luckly the doors had been removed by taking [...] I cleaned out all of the tracks, replaced some hardware and greased everything all up on the slider. So, now with a flick of the finger, it slides down the track nicely. Now for a few more adjustments so it actually closes as well… I think it needs someone better equipped… like a collision [...] |
