So, I couldn’t help myself. I wanted to do an experiment today. An experiment in pure color. No black and only a small bit of white. Lots of cleaning and wiping the brush. No purple tainted with cad yellow. Bright pure color. I went to a government owned overlook near Point Mugu, with this nice meandering waterway in the midst of the slough. I started painting the scene with about 70 minutes of sunlight left. So, away I went. Here is what I came up with in that short time.

Brilliant use of color. Right On!
I love color…always have. It’s probably the “old” hippie in me. Your painting reflects how color sets the “mood” and sends the mind wandering on a new journey. The photo (of nature’s model) is soft and peaceful. The colorful painting is mysteriously alluring creating a sense of smallness in the unending vastness of the landscape. Though here on earth, one could imagine another place where time is endless and something is yet to be discovered. Though dusk…it is the dawn breaking forth. Perhaps…that is because something new is being birthed in you.
Hey, your hair is as long as mine now!:)
Very colorful and yet very realistic.
ribald, rich, wild and as usual with depth
Very nice!!
My friend, Sharon Weaver, has started using pure colors like that…. She puts down complements next to one another to have the eye blend them when she needs to.
