A few months back, I went with the California Art Club to the old Peter Strauss Ranch for a morning of painting. It was the first time in a long time that I had made the time to go out with them. Well, I did a painting that I was not really thrilled with, but over the weekend, I placed it on the easel and just looked at it for a while. I realized that the green in the foreground was very flat… all one dimension and same values. Also the sky was pretty gray. So, I spent about 20 minutes on those areas and something began coming to life. Well, a few more bold strokes and here was what I ended up with…
